Virtual Educational Fam Trips
for international buyers from Germany and Spain
Advantage managed the execution of two virtual fam trips in partnership with Fáilte Ireland in December 2020. The virtual trips were targeting international meeting planners located in Germany and Spain, showcasing the best of Ireland’s MICE product.
We designed, created and managed a unique, innovative, fun and inspirational itinerary for MICE buyers. The virtual itinerary was hosted live with the educational experience delivered via a mobile application, allowing buyers orientate themselves around a map of Ireland.
The virtual experience was delivered using a combination of mobile app with a virtual live presentation element, allowing for engagement, gamification, and live Q&A.
We managed all aspects of these virtual fam trips, including speakers, trade partners, buyers’ engagement. app technicians, app content, teaser campaigns, time schedules and rehearsals.
We worked with our tech partners to develop a bespoke app that buyers would use to travel virtually around Ireland.
We hosted live presentations on the Zoom platform with 6 trade partners, each of them had 5 minutes for their live speech and a video that was played on Zoom, but it was also available in the app for buyers to go back and explore at any time.
We added some gamification with a Quiz at the end of all trade partners presentation with questions about the properties/ activities they represented. The winner of the Quiz received a prize. This way, we kept buyers’ engagement throughout the virtual event.
An icebreaker activity was incorporated with a live storyteller to engage attendees prior to the event kick-off. The entertainment continued throughout with the grand finale of traditional Irish musicians playing out the event. Prior to the event, attendees received the lyrics of a song and a bodhran (Irish drum) as part of a teaser campaign; they didn’t know until the end of the virtual event that they had to join our Irish musicians in singing and playing a famous traditional Irish song.
These events were a huge success, with both German and Spanish buyers alike.
